The Centre agrees to continue the sharing pattern of 90:10 for Central Sponsored Schemes in Manipur

NEW DELHI, March 28, 2017: A national level footballer turned politician and now first BJP Chief Minister of Manipur, N Biren Singh, is running hard to prove himself at par with other chief ministers of the BJP led state governments.

After assuming the charge of Chief Minister of Manipur on March 15 last and taking up a few remarkable jobs like lifting of 139 day long economic blockade, setting up Anti-Corruption Cell at Chief Minister’s Office, initiatives of good governance and transparency in Manipur administration; the Chief Minister Nongthombam Biren Singh called on the Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Monday and asked for Central government’s help for different developmental works in the state. He was accompanied by the Public Works Minister Thongam Biswajit Singh.

Responding swiftly to the demands of Manipur Chief Minister, Prime Minister instructed to grant Rs 140-150 crore to Manipur immediately for taking up different developmental works. The Centre also agreed to continue the sharing pattern of 90:10 for Central Sponsored Schemes in Manipur.
Four-laning of NH 2 construction work will start soon in the state.
In the current year, an additional amount of Rs 82 crore was given to
Manipur.

During the meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Biren Singh apprised him about the various developmental projects being undertaken in the state. He said that the construction work for NH-37 has already been started and in remaining places, it will start from April 1, 2017.

The Chief Minister also said that proposal to construct a Mini Secretariat will be sent to Ministry of DoNER for their favourable consideration.

Ministry of DoNER will consider funding for the Construction of Women’s Market at all districts in the state. Construction of 60 bedded Mental hospital will be approved by the Ministry of Health after appropriate proposal is sent.
Flood lighting of Khuman Lampak Sports Complex will be considered
positively by the Ministry of sports and ministry of power. Construction of Flyovers will be considered under the Smart City Project.
